Darla Sarlo
Piano by Ear Darla Sarlo has fourteen years of experience playing a
predominantly Floyd Cramer style piano by ear and performing
at school, at church, with family, at weddings, in nursing
homes, at special occasions, and at the prison chapel. Over
the years, she has instructed friends and family and is happy
with the chance to share her unique style to those interested
in playing without reading notes. Though a knowledge of chords
and a good ear helps, no experience is necessary to begin
lessons.
Darla’s repertoire, though mostly church hymns, also
consists of a few classical pieces, contemporary love songs
(such as movie theme songs from Disney’s “Beauty and the
Beast”, “The Mask of Zorro”, and “Couching Tiger, Hidden
Dragon”), and her own original compositions. However, she is
able to assist a student in learning almost any song. Her
style not only caters to fans of Floyd Cramer, but to any
piano enthusiasts who desire to learn basic skills that will
enable them to independently develop their own styles and
“pick out” styles of their own.
